Think and Grow Rich: Lessons That Changed My Life

I first picked up the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill after going to a seminar at school. The speaker at the seminar finished his presentation by giving one last piece of advice: read this book. At the time, I was not necessarily looking for ways to improve myself or gain clarity on my goals, I more so just wanted a book to tell me how to be rich.

Think and Grow Rich isn’t just about making money. It is about changing the way that you think in order to take control of your future. Throughout the book, Hill emphasizes 13 principles that successful people use to achieve their goals. These include having a clear desire for what you want, believing in yourself, being persistent, and surrounding yourself with the right people. What stuck with me the most is that success starts in your mind meaning what you think and truly believe, will become your reality. This is a simple concept but a powerful one that has changed how I approach things in life.

Before reading the book, I felt like my goals were vague but Hill’s emphasis on being specific and creating a plan changed that. I started writing down my goals and practicing daily affirmations to motivate myself. For example, I started taking more manageable steps toward long-term goals rather than just hoping things will work out.

One of the biggest lessons I learned from this book was the importance of persistence. Hill says that setbacks are inevitable but the key is to not let them stop you. This hit home for me because previously I would let my mistakes get the best of me. It has given me a new sense of resilience and determination.

Hill also made me think differently about the people that I surround myself with. The book talks about surrounding yourself with a group of people who inspire, challenge and push you to grow. Since reading this, I started being more intentional about building relationships with people who share similar goals as me.
Think and Grow Rich is not just a book but a guide for how to think, plan and take action. If you’re feeling stuck on how to move forward, I cannot recommend this book enough. It taught me that success is not about luck or talent, but it is way more achievable through the right mindset. No, I am not rich yet, but I do know that I am on the right track.
